Solderless terminals according to DIN 46234

Solderless terminals according to DIN 46234: for control cabinets & similar
Even solderless terminals according to DIN 46234 are subject to the standard requirements in terms of application, dimensions and designation. Solderless terminals are used in crimping with several, fine and super-fine stranded conductors. However, solderless terminals according to DIN 46234 are not suitable for single-stranded solid conductors, unlike compression cable lugs according to DIN 46235.

The conductor nominal cross-sections of solderless terminals according to DIN range from 0.5 mm² to 240 mm², the hole diameter for connecting bolts from M2 to M16. Solderless terminals are used, for example, in control cabinet construction or in the construction of rail vehicles. Just like compression cable lugs or tubular cable lugs, solderless terminals primarily consist of electrolyte copper.

However, another raw material is used for production: while compression cable lugs are produced using tubes, solderless terminals are made from copper sheets. This means that by virtue of their design, rounded and soldered from a metal sheet, they have a distinctive soldered joint.

The quality of the soldered joint is key to the crimping result. If the soldered joints are of poor quality, there is the risk that they will open up during crimping. Unlike the compression cable lug according to 46235, solderless terminals are not processed with hexagonal crimping, but rather they are processed exclusively with indent crimping.
