Notch crimping: a tried and true solution
Notch crimping covers a wide range of conductors: from stranded copper cables of class 2 according to DIN EN 60228 to fine and superfine types of classes 5 and 6. Of course, it must be ensured that the matching cable lug is used. In terms of technology, notch crimping is set apart by its high degree of compaction. Remember that notch crimping generates a high material load, which results from the large force when crimping. It is therefore important that high-quality connecting materials are used and the connection is non-tension. The same number of notches as for a narrow hexagonal crimp is required.
There is no doubt, however, that the acceptance of notch crimping among experts isn't what it once was. It is therefore important in the case of specific projects to clarify with customers in advance as to whether they allow notch crimping in their technical facilities and plants.
