On the occasion of our annual “apprentice breakfast” with management, a joint project with all trainees going beyond their vocational training phase was agreed. Now, at the beginning of 2019 the project itself has finally been decided on.
All of our apprentices will work together on creating and developing Gustav, the company’s very own robot. The team effort, in which the commercial apprentices will see to material procurement and cost analysis and the technical trainees will be responsible for producing the components, wiring and programming, will have the objective of creating a prototype of our new company robot. Its name has already been chosen however: Gustav is what it will be called. And, of course, it will show our tools and be able to provide information on Gustav Klauke per image film at vocational training fairs and exhibitions. Outside trade fair periods it will not just stand around idle, but in the future it is planned for Gustav to greet our visitors. Moreover, the project is forward-thinking: subsequent apprentice generations will be able to extend Gustav’s performance spectrum by developing and incorporating additional skills.
We now assume that we shall be able to report here on Gustav’s first successful deployment in September this year.
