Textron Award for occupational health and safety

This year, Textron recognised the Klauke factory in Remscheid and four other sites with the Presidents Award for Occupational Health and Safety. This was to acknowledge that the Klauke factory, with some 500 workers, has achieved a very low accident rate (TRIR) of 0.21 over the last 3 years.

The Textron Group overall has 32,000 employees, produces from 69 locations in 18 countries and in 2011 generated sales of 10.5 billion US dollars – Klauke won the award, then, against strong competition.

Training pays off
Lot of thanks go to all staff at the Remscheid site who made this possible through their personal commitment. The award is a sign that the intense training efforts and the continuous improvements to machine safety and ergonomics at workstations are paying off. Even more important than these activities, of course, is that every individual understands the risks of his actions and works safely at all times.

Staying safety conscious!
Everyone knows there’s no such thing as absolute safety. There’s always an accident just waiting to happen. That said, we can reduce the risk of accident or injury to a minimum by everyone behaving safely. There’s just one thing we shouldn’t do: Rest on the laurels. The goal has to be: ZERO ACCIDENTS - every accident is one too many!
