Crimp Documentation with a lot of „brain“: New USB Adapter PGA1 for the current Klauke Tool Generation „Safety Plus“
The current generation of battery powered crimping tools “Safety Plus” from Klauke is characterized by a great number of intelligent integrated supplementary functions. A technical highlight is the “Intelligent Pressing System” with integrated pressure sensor monitoring permanently during each crimping operation the pressing power of the hydraulic system. Deviations from the specified pressing power or operating errors are immediately signalled by audio warning and flashing LEDs. This guarantees the user maximum safety during every individual crimping operation. The new USB adapter PGA1 and the software PGAWIN render the “Safety Plus” tools even more intelligent and operating the tools is much safer than ever before.
All “Safety Plus” tools are supplied as standard with an optical interface enabling a” read out” of all crimp operations with PC or Laptop. The operating mode is quite easy: The user just connects the reading head via USB stick with the computer where the Klauke software PGAWIN has already been installed. Then the optical interface of the reading head is positioned above the light emitting diode of the tool and immediately all important crimp and machine datas are being transmitted from the tool to the computer. The test report indicating date and time is available as PDF document.
Documentation of user error and device error
The system documentates the accurate and error free function of the hydraulic tool. It gives notice of user errors for example a too early stop and retract of the hydraulic system prior to reaching the necessary pressing power or technical defects of the tool preventing a correct crimping operation.
In addition the system is sensing an integrated electronic counter in the tool memorizing the number of crimps but also power input, hours of operation and the minimal, average and maximum pressing power. With this information a statistical evaluation of the average pressure sequence can be established. Klauke recommends to perform the documentation at the beginning and at the end of a working day. As the system has easy access to the real time clock of the computer the test certificates are being accepted as evidence by QS-Systems.
The “Safety Plus” tool generation at a glance
The “Safety Plus” tool generation includes the rod shaped crimping tools series mini+ and the product range ultra and ultra+ in a pistol shaped design available as both crimping and cutting tools. The crimping tools of the series mini+ are available in three different versions. All tools feature a slim crimping head rotating by 345° for maximum accessibility in hard to reach areas. Very helpful is the practical one hand operation and the automatic and manual retract.
The ultra series in a pistol shaped design is available in three different versions for cutting and crimping up to 300 mm2. The swivel type crimping head rotates by 360°. All tools come with a two stage hydraulic system with quick feed and power stroke. A quick stop, automatic and manual retract are additional features of this series.
Clever: When putting the tools in operation a white LED in the handle illuminates the work area. The equipment of the top series ultra+ matches the ultra range – with the difference that the maximum crimping range is 400 mm2 including wide crimping and including the position control mode rendering multiplecrimping operations even quicker and easier.
